1.      Record from multiple computers: The CourseCast recorder allows for many types of recordings with different inputs. While it’s very easy to add video/audio + PowerPoint + screen capture from one computer, some users may not be aware that it’s very easy to separate presentation content and audio/video across two (or more) computers. In this recording scenario, the presenter just records PowerPoint and/or screen capture from one recorder and a videographer can record video/audio only in their recorder. For more information, click here.

2.  Remote Recording: CourseCast 2.0 allows you to access a camera that is physically attached to another computer. This can be useful if a presenter wants to use a ceiling mounted camera or if AV staff responsible for the presentation’s video camera(s).  If that computer has the remote recorder service installed, anyone running the Panopto Recorder application can use it. This allows a presenter to initiate the camera without it being physically attached to their computer. For more information, click here.

3.     Integrate with Blackboard: With the CourseCast Building Block, lectures captured with CourseCast can be seamlessly imported into Blackboard course documents. Students just click on the Panopto logo to view the lecture of their choice. For more information, click here.

4.     Record Live Notes (currently only available with a support contract): Live Notes is a feature that, if enabled, will allow notes to be added to a lecture while it is being recorded. Notes taken during class are then accessible and editable to the student during presentation playback. One example of it's use would be students taking notes while a professor is speaking so that the can later search through their notes and find video segments that they are interested in.  For more information, click here.

5.     Transcription (currently only available with a support contract): CourseCast allows you to request transcriptions for recorded lectures. Panopto is currently partnered with Automatic Sync Technologies (http://www.automaticsync.com/). Once the request is made from your CourseCast server to have a lecture transcribed, it’s sent over to AST and after a few days it will be fully transcribed and integrated into the viewer (Captions tab). See below for a screenshot (note: the below screenshot is an audio and PowerPoint only recording)
